Description
Hot dip galvanising forms a protective layer of zinc over the reinforcing bar, increasing the chloride threshold and resisting lowering PH levels, making it far less susceptible to corrosion.
Galvanised rebar, or HDG Rebar, is best suited for harsh environments where there is an increased risk of corrosion, such as salt water in coastal construction projects. The zinc coating creates a barrier against corrosive elements and prolongs the design life of the structure compared to bare reinforcing steel. Galvanised steel is generally cheaper than Stainless Steel and is therefore a cost effective solution for steel protection.
